Today’s most popular looks are all about sustainability and bringing the natural world in.

If you’re looking for some inspiration to spruce up your home this year, check out the best looks that are trending right now. The good news is they can all be achieved without breaking your budget or harming our planet.

SUSTAINABILITY
According to Domino Magazine, “Sustainability is a movement that is becoming more widespread than ever, especially as it pertains to design.” This means looking at the materials you use—what they’re made from, how they’re produced, and their impact on the planet—and being purposeful in your choices.
BIOPHILIA
Experts at ElleDecor say, “For 2019, there is greater interest in biophilia—emphasizing the relationship between humankind and nature, and the connections between the two.” Achieve this look by using natural materials like reclaimed wood, stone, natural light, and plants.
MODERN FARMHOUSE STYLE
Megan McDonough of the Washington Post chatted with Houzz editor and writer Mitchell Parker about 2019’s design projections. Houzz experts say modern farmhouse style will continue to flourish, giving a “homey look” both inside and out. But you don’t have to go total farmhouse to capture the warmth of this trend. Try mixing a white-washed wood wall with more modern furnishings for a look that beautifully combines old and new.
RECLAIMED WOOD ACCENTS
Phoenix Home & Garden is highlighting the use of reclaimed wood accents, from “small-scale and affordable” projects to bigger investments like distressed wood flooring or decorative wood ceiling beams. Their designers say, “No matter how you choose to incorporate reclaimed wood, it will instantly add value and texture to any room.”
